What is laminated glass vs tempered glass?

Laminated glass and tempered glass are both safety glazing options but serve different purposes. Tempered glass is heat-treated to be significantly stronger than standard glass, and when it breaks, it shatters into small, relatively harmless granules. Laminated glass consists of two or more glass panes bonded together with a plastic interlayer, usually PVB. When laminated glass breaks, the interlayer holds the pieces in place, maintaining a barrier even after impact. For security applications, laminated glass is generally the preferred choice because it stays intact after breaking and resists forced entry.
